What to bring to the exam?
New applicants should bring a FCC Registration Number (FRN) to the testing session. You can register for an FRN at the FCC’s website. Find instructions here.
Also Bring
Cash to cover the exam fee. (usually $15)
Pen and pencil
Calculator (optional) – please note: the memory will need to be cleared if it is a programmable type!
Identification
One (1) of these:
– Driver’s license or
– Passport or
– CAC or
– Other government-issued photo ID
OR Two (2) of these:
– Non-photo ID or driver’s license issued by a government
– Social Security Card
– Certified copy of birth certificate
– Minor’s work permit, school report card, school ID card or library card
– Utility bill, bank statement or other business correspondence that specifically names the person
– Postmarked envelope addressed to the person at his or her current mailing address as it appears on the Form 605
If you are already licensed, bring the ORIGINAL and a COPY of your License.
If you are claiming any credit for previous exams, bring the ORIGINAL and a COPY of your CSCE. (This is uncommon. If you have a license, bring that instead; see previous point.)
Did you know: When you pass your Technician exam, you will be offered the opportunity to take the General and Extra level tests at most sessions. As long as you keep passing, you can go from “Zero to Extra” in one session.
